ACTIVE HELP FOR ANIMALS IN FAMINE - VETS IN ACTION
16 December 2020
In many countries, measures to contain the Covid19 virus are again having a dramatic impact on animals. Restaurants and stores are closed, people stay at home and often have to see how to support themselves and their families. This leaves less and less for the animals. For the vets in the field, the number one goal at the moment is to ensure the distribution of food and thus save the animals from acute starvation.
But then we have different possibilities to feed the strays:
First, we distribute the food to our volunteers in each place.
Fortunately, we have a strong network of people who care about the animals.
So we bring them food regularly and they feed the dogs every day.
Secondly, we regularly fill our feeders, which we installed, with the permission of the municipalities, back in the spring. It's not always easy to get these permits. Some municipalities do not want street animals to be fed inside towns.
But, as always, we do our best: the vision of Vets in action is the peaceful coexistence of humans and animals, and we convince the relevant authorities that organized feeding is the best and most humane solution for the current situation.
Third, of course, we are also on the road ourselves incessantly feeding all the animals we encounter on our tours. It is heartbreaking to see the love and gratitude in the eyes of the starving dogs when we stop the car to feed them.
And we don't just feed them: we always spend some time with them, too. They are grateful for the food, but also for a respectful and loving petting. The animals always teach us courage and patience.
We can learn so much from the wisdom of our four-legged friends.
We know this monk very well. He has been helping us for many years to feed animals or to catch them for castration. He can communicate well with animals.
Take Greece as an example and see what we, with your help, can do for the stray animals.
First of all, we need permits to move from place to place. The police checks us and our permits regularly.
Your donation is greatly needed to continue feeding dogs and cats during this COVID time, and we would like to thank all of you who are helping to support our animal friends. We are also active in feeding cats. We will give you news about this soon.
