Our veterinary practice is well equipped to help animals in need and designed to run as neutering centre for strays.
There are countless stray animals in Bulgaria. On every street corner, in every town and village, you can find homeless dogs and cats. Plenty of accidents involve street animals, the consequences of which are fatal to them since hardly anyone is there to protect the animal.
That is why Vets in Action maintain a practice in the immediate vicinity of the donkey valley. Animals are regularly castrated there and emergencies are treated.
Working with the donkeys has created a lot of trust among the farmers. At first, they could hardly believe that someone was willing to do something good for them and their animals. Their trust has paid off and farmers bring their animals for castration - something that would have been unthinkable before. It is not enough just to neuter or spay the street animals, because pets reproduce just as uncontrollably and the litters are often abandoned.
Our local credibility gives us a real chance to bring the number of stray animals in the region under control and prevent the suffering of countless of animals. Regular castration campaigns take place in our small practice in Banichan and the stray situation in the area has already improved considerably.
