Unfortunately, big dogs are still often being used for breeding or fighting and once they become sick or don’t bring profit to their owners, they end up on the street.
Nona is such a case, abandoned outside to wander without food or shelter.
We spot this huge dog on the road between two villages looking completely lost.
The dog is just skin and bones. A lot of her skin is covered in open and crusted wounds, missing fur.
She is very hungry as she has been left to die from starvation. We will never forget the way she is eating when we find her. It is a heartbreaking moment.
Once we gain her trust, we are able to put her in the transportation box.
We drive her to our practice for a full veterinary checkup and all necessary further care.
We name her Nona. Here is a picture from her first few weeks with us in our rescue place. She is still receiving medication for her health problems.
Nona together with one of her friends. Treatment and good food are starting to give results. She already looks better.
Nona four months later. Her skin has healed and there is now a coat covering her body.
Such a good friend…
Nona today, completely healthy, happily running around full of life and joy.
