Like this nameless stray, whom a volunteer brings us to castrate in our clinic in Banichan. At first glance, the young male seems to be in good condition. We guess that he is regularly fed by ananimal-friendly soul.
A NAMELESS DOG
The fate of this mixed-breed male is shared by countless other animals that suffer due to human ignorance.
In Bulgaria, many dogs are tied to a rope or chain by their owner to guard his house. The owner has no idea what this means for the sensitive necks of the growing animals. Sooner or later, such dogs often end up on the street, where they have to find a way to survive. They grow up, but the rope does not – it digs deeper and deeper into the skin and tissue. There is hardly anyone who frees them from this mortal danger. The Vets in Action do not know how many dogs die in such an agonizing way. We can only take care of those who are brought to us by mindful people.
However, the calm, friendly dog has deep, strong-smelling wounds from a rope that must have grown into the flesh; how he got rid of it remains unknown.
We sedate him and check on the surgery table whether there are not still rest of the rope into the flesh.
Fortunately, we no longer find any rope rest and the surgery can start.
The neck wound is treated, and we get ready to neuter our friendly visitor. Afterwards he is brought back to his territory - we wish him all the best.
