Winnetou
Winnetou comes from the village of Lazhnitza.
His story is one of loss and kindness. When his elderly owner passed away, the donkey was subdued and seemed to really miss her. The owner’s daughter wanted Winnetou to be happy and chose to send her mother’s faithful companion to the Donkey Valley.
At first, Winnetou was quite active and playful, perhaps reconnecting with the joy of life after a stretch of loneliness and confusion. Nowadays he has settled and is a little more meditative, enjoying slow, quiet walks. Donkeys often choose another donkey for a good friend – for Winnetou, that’s Syuleiman.
