Snezhka

Snezhka comes from the village of Dolno Ossenovo, some 80 km away from our Donkey Valley in Banichan. They still have many donkeys in the village, unlike elsewhere in Bulgaria but that is changing too. Snezhka comes to us like many others do – there’s not enough work to justify keeping her, and her humans don’t want her to spend her days tied up in a barn.
Snezhka is an independent donkey who unmistakably prefers her kind. She is aloof to humans, often showing that they should not infringe on her personal space. Snezhka stands out with her fluffy, thick coat. In wintertime, at a distance, she actually resembles a bear more than she does a donkey.
