Jeda arrived in the Donkey Valley at the end of 2021 from the southern town of Petrich. When we first saw her, she was hiding shyly behind an unexpected second addition to our donkey family, Vasko. He had ‘hitched’ a ride thanks to a farmer who rescued him from going to the slaughterhouse.

But first impressions are sometimes deceiving. Jeda is not shy at all; she is an independent donkey who makes up her own mind about where she wants to go and doesn’t quite understand the concept of boundaries. We often go looking for her at the end of the day, but we love her all the same and appreciate her bold spirit.
