Petko comes from the village of Dubnitza. His owner called us back in 2016 and we were shocked to discover Petko’s hind legs were affected by his badly overgrown hooves and he was experiencing problems even with simple standing. In turn, his joints and tendons had suffered too, changing his posture irreparably, which meant he would always need special care.
We used to visit him every couple of months to take care of his hooves but always left with a heavy heart. Petko was living in a dark and dirty place, so when one day his owners finally let us take him to the valley with us everyone was really happy. Now this calm, sweet-tempered donkey can have a good quality of life, receiving the care and treatment he deserves.
